Dog Agility

A variety of classes with the Derbyshire Agility Centre are available for those wishing to do agility with their dogs, in a variety of appropriate venues, both indoor and outdoor using the best competition style equipment, starting with:

Puppy + Classes for Agility (6 week course)

Often those who wish to have an agility dog commence training too early and this can lead to injuries and physical problems in later life. These puppy+ classes are designed to encourage owners of puppies to prepare their dogs safely for a full life of agility fun and will also include all the Puppy Class course content but with an emphasis on preparation for Agility in the future.

The classes include:

  • Making your puppy brave and bold
  • Proprioception exercises - going over under, around and through low impact obstacles
  • Learning how to gain control of your puppy ready for a lifetime of freedom and off lead training

Pre Agility Classes (6 week course)

For dogs who are 6 months plus, these classes provide the dog and handler with a host of low impact exercises designed to prepare them for introduction to agility equipment, through focus, balance control and relationship building.

This 6 week course is designed for dogs of all ages, shapes and sizes and may be completed by those who may not wish to go on to further agility training, but teaches the handlers and dogs many skills which can be used in many dog activities.

Introduction to Agility Equipment

Introduction to the agility equipment, will follow on from the Pre agility training and is the next step in your agility training programme. At the point you begin this training, you will be invited to pay on a monthly basis in advance rather than for blocks of 6 weeks.

Handling Skills

Handling skills training helps you to understand a handling system in order to be able to complete handling full courses in the quickest and most efficient way. At this point you may want to consider entering Agility Competition.

However, there is no pressure for you to compete and many of the people who train with us do so just to enjoy quality time with their dog.
